Acronym

Ein Acronym ist eine Abkürzung, deren Buchstaben ein neues Wort ergeben. Abkürzungen oder auch Abbreviaturen, entstanden beim Versuch Zeit und Platz zu sparen. Die Wortabstammung aus dem Griechischen bzw. Lateinischen läßt erahnen, dass dies keine Erfindung der Neuzeit ist, sondern das man das schon seit längerer Zeit praktiziert. In der heutigen Zeit begegnet man im Internet vor allem englischen Acronymen und Abkürzungen, von denen nachfolgend eine kleine Auswahl aufgelistet ist. Ein oder zwei deutsche Acronyme sollen in dieser Liste natürlich nicht fehlen.
