I've been using Olympus gear almost exclusively since 1977. The OM-1 MD is the first new camera I ever bought, from my first paycheque at my first "real" job.

My father was a photo enthusiast, and we had a darkroom in our home, which I used to process film from the Zeiss Ikon 9x12 he gave me, which he bought in post-WWII Germany. I've since collected many of the better OM lenses, which I still use, occasionally with film on an OM-4 Ti, but most often on my Olympus and OM Digital Solutions digital cameras.

"Suffering through" the uninspiring E-System years out of loyalty, I still shoot an E-3 and E-300 (lovely Kodak CCD sensor!) occasionally. But mostly, I adapt the lovely SHG glass to my Micro Four Thirds bodies. I have bought more 4/3rds glass (all SHG) since converting to µ4/3rds than I did when all I had was 4/3rds bodies!

As the new µ4/3rds system rolled out, I watched and waited, finally "jumping on" when the OM-D E-M1 Mark II came out. It was the first camera since the OM-4 that actually made me giggle when I first used it! I recently obtained the wonderful OM-1 — 45 years after my first "OM-1" — and am having a great time with it.

I get a lot of joy out of modifying and adapting photo gear. For example, I have changed the mounts on the Nikon PB-4 tilt-shift bellows so that I can directly mount it on µ4/3rds bodies and OM lenses. I have also modified the OM System T-8 and T-10 ring flashes so they will work with the E System FC-1 macro flash controller, which also works on µ4/3rds. I am planning to put a Lensbaby Composer Pro on the back of the Telescoping Extension Tube so I can do "ruggedized" tilt macro photography with the Zuiko Auto-Macro 1:4,5/135 mm
